2004: Residents from Coral Ridge Isles competed in a special cookie contest this year with all entries so good it was hard to choose a winner! Not only were they tasty treats, but they really looked like artwork!
First
place winner for her 'Chocolate Peppermint Creams' was Amy Bergstrom, the second
place winner was the outstanding artistic design of 'Deck the "Halls " with
Santa' by Laurie Hall, and there was a third place tie with 'Crunchy Toffee
Treats' by Kathleen Coldwell and 'Assorted Homemade Goodies' by Kathleen
Colombo. (see photos below).
2003: With
decorations of beach ball ornaments, red ribbons and snowflake ropes, the pavilion at Floranada Park
looked like a decked out tree and had a festive, holiday atmosphere. A
spirited volleyball tournament was organized with teams including Andrea, Jim,
Kelly and Austin, Jack, Sarah, Evan, Cole and Chelsea and others.
Thanks to the fine showing of the ‘Santa Band’ lead by Peter Catsenpeeis, there were many teens at the event – something we all want to encourage.
Left over chicken and side dishes still in their sealed containers were donated to the Salvation Army for programs to help families and the homeless during difficult times. It was in this spirit that Coral Ridge Isles came together for this special night.
